The last walk of this year’s programme and our traditional Christmas lunch to follow.
Twenty two of us set out from Blanchland for this walk on a chilly but clear Sunday; the lure of a Christmas meal with friends always guarantees a good turnout for this one.
We made our way out of Blanchland and uphill to the pretty village of Baybridge with fine clear views out over the hills lit by low slanting winter sunshine. As is our tradition, we stopped for a few festive nibbles and a glass or two of fizziness, in preparation for lunch later on. The fine weather stayed with us all of the way round and we arrived back at Blanchland dry shod and relatively mud free.
After a short drive we arrived at the Manor House Inn for our long awaited lunch. We can all recommend this fine pub for either a drink (in the bar lit by a roaring wood fire) or a full scale meal in the excellent restaurant.
See you next year!
