The Christmas walk. Always a good turn out for the annual walk and Christmas meal and today was no exception. We had a group of 29 to walk the boundaries of Corbridge and plenty of old faces who we hadn’t seen for many a while.
The walk itself is surprisingly testing considering how familiar we all are with these surroundings. Rising up through Cow Lane it sneaks under the A69 before crossing sheep pasture and slicing through woodland. Above us loomed the fine stone walls of Aydon Castle where we stopped for Christmas snacks and a cup of tea.
Continuing on to Aydon village itself, we negotiated a tricky crossing of the A69 again before finishing the return loop through Broomhaugh and back down to Corbridge.
Christmas lunch was taken at the Black Bull in the town itself and mighty good it was too and enjoyed by all. 2015 and a new programme beckons.
